It has better sounding built-in “pieces” oscillators and filters and a very flexible environment for putting them together. MAX is really better for creating whole “environments” than single-use units like synthesizers. Reaktor’s true power is the ability to expand on an existing idea or create something new outright.

The commercial potential in Reaktor is always there as anything can be built and you can avoid sounding dated vs. Massive will always sound like Massive, and you can use it to create pads, drums, basses, whatever. But the sound engine to me sounds distinct, where Reaktor can sound like Massive, Nord, Access Virus, or anything else you want to emulate.

That being said, the modules themselves do actually sound quite good and act predictably, which makes building “software modular” stuff very convenient, without actually sacrificing sound quality.
