Is your version of Office Professional Plus a perpetual license or subscription based license? Note, in case it is a subscription based license then you will not be able to perform a custom installation of Office Professional Plus You may refer to the following Microsoft Article link for more information on this and removal of Office shortcuts:.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I obtained it thru my company who has a Microsoft Action Pack subscription. It is a perpetual license. I’m trying to install this on my Surface Pro and I don’t have a lot of drive space remaining which is why I need to make sure I don’t install things I don’t need.

Surely there’s a way to do this. Since you have a perpetual license of Office Professional Plus , do you have an installation disk or a download file? While installing from a download file on your Surface Pro, you may select the Custom Install option and make sure to deselect the Office components that you do not want to install. Also, you may install it to a preferred location. Try installing using the custom install method and check if it helps.

Unfortunately that’s not possible. I have an ISO. Check if you can get a disk to install Office Professional Plus ? By default CTR is an all or nothing installation. MS will tell you that the unused programs do not use much space, approx MB each. Of course, that is significant on a 32GB drive There is a business oriented tool that you can use to customize your installation.

It is not ‘officially’ intended for consumer type users, but it does handle consumer licenses. It just takes some “manual” setup before running the installation. This tool is intended for Business Office Administrators. Apparently it may also be used for consumer Office bundles. I have not tried it myself, rohn After much trial and error, I got it to work for me.

Reboot 1. This will place setup. I tried your method, and when I launched the program from CMD, I immediately got error code after it got elevated privileges.

I do have Office installed still. Depending on the software or services you have in place, many organizations want to disable certain components of the Office suite. The common ones I hear are Access and InfoPath, sometimes the Exchange team in a company controls the version of Outlook on the desktop, an in-place communications system might make it difficult to use Lync, etc.

In the traditional Office MSI packages, you could use the Office Customization Tool or a configuration file to control which apps your users received and now using the new Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run download page and May or newer builds of Office, you can do this now as well. After downloading the Office Deployment Tool, you can edit the default configuration. If you install an Office Click-to-Run build using the configuration. You could use similar configuration files to install as few as one Office application as well.
