Office is the industry standard for productivity suites, and now it has new bells and whistles. This guide walks you through the versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook, showing you what’s new and how to make the most of every feature. Wallace Wang has written more than 50 computer books and has more than three million copies of his previous For Dummies books in print, including Office For Dummies and Beginning Programming All-in-One For Dummies.
A veteran teacher, writer, and game designer, he’s also done stand-up comedy. I love computers but I hate complexity. That’s why I specialize in making complicated topics easier to understand. My computer books tackle a variety that include Microsoft Office and computer programming. Besides my many computer books, I’ve also written books on non-computer topics such as stock investing and screenwriting.
When not writing books, I also perform stand-up comedy so I can bring a humorous touch to my explanation of complicated topics so they’re easier to learn. Currently I’m focusing my comedic writing skills towards occasional comedy performances but mostly towards screenwriting.
You can read my screenwriting blog at The 15 Minute Movie Method www. I’ve collected the best ideas from my screenwriting blog and condensed them into an e-book also called “The Minute Movie Method,” which is available as an e-book. In , I got my first cat and after reading a basic cat care book, I found that none of the advice offered had any basis in reality for dealing with the quirks and whims of a real cat.
In the teaching world, I’ve taught at community colleges around San Diego as well as teaching at the University of Zimbabwe in Africa. I also write a weekly Macintosh column in an online computer magazine called ComputorEdge www. In addition, I’ve ghost written several books for real estate experts, stock day trading specialists, and network marketing millionaires. In , I helped San Diego State University’s film department win their first student Emmy when they filmed my sitcom pilot, “Three of a Kind,” which is about three generations of couples forced to live in the same house without driving each other crazy from their different points of view on everything.
In the game designing world, I’ve created and published a game in called “Orbit War,” which was published by Steve Jackson Games the game is now out of print.
The game simulated low orbital combat between satellites. I’m interested in always learning something new and combining my various skills and experience to help others understand changing technology. To keep up with my random thoughts concerning advice I wish someone had given me, you can read my personal blog at www. My latest interest involves creating interactive e-books, so I also run another web site called The Electronic Author www.
Since printed books cost so much to make, ship, and store, and bookstores are fading from relevance faster than the latest reality TV star, you can see that the future of printed books is about as promising as Kim Kardashian suddenly deciding to go to college and earn a Ph.
With all my books I strive to simplify complex topics in a fun way that everyone can enjoy. Life is too short to remain mentally stagnant, so keep learning and striving for your goals, and I’ll be happy to help through my books so you can reach your dreams. That being said, the book contains lots of information and would be a great resource to someone who already has a basic grasp of the programs and wants to learn a new feature. However, I would not call this a book for Dummies as it is not easy to comprehend.
I returned this book. There were very few screen shots. The instructions would say to click some area which I usually could not find. I did not find the book helpful at all. Maybe I missed something that clarified when it says “10 Books in 1” that it’s not actually ALL of the 10 books it says it covered.
I bought this mainly because I thought it would be the full books of say Excel or Outlook for Dummies as I needed the in depth more advanced options but this is very minimal in these areas. In Excel, for example, the most complicated thing it goes into is Pivot Tables; I know how to do pivot tables but was looking for the macros and VBA items that were in the actual Excel for Dummies – this doesn’t include any of that.
Very disappointed in that I’m now going to have to get separate books for the areas I really need help with. I don’t know if I’ll keep it or not at this point but overall not happy with the content of the book.
One person found this helpful. I bought this book to bring me up to speed on the latest versions of MS Office programs. Although lacking in some minor areas, it is a great tool for teaching someone MS Office.
Generally easy to follow along and instructions are usually quite clear. The primary reason I purchased this book was because it advertised “Through easy-to-follow instruction.
Publisher” It is not thorough, the “Publisher” section is a sparse 14 pages essentially on the use of templates. It does not provide in depth instructions on the huge capabilities and features of “Publisher” I’m a long time user of Office publisher and was hoping this would be an update for using It is not!
Great disappointment, I’ll keep for other apps. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Simple things hardest to find! This is the first time I have not given a Dummies book 5 stars. There is a lot in Office I shall not use but I have had a hard time finding how to do some simple things.
Like removing an unwanted formatting record on screen. Don’t know how I brought it up in the first place and then can’t get rid of the red the to get a printable version. Also can’t find how to delete an unwanted file. I originally bought this as a joke for the IT department who are utterly rubbish. Good basic cover but it did let me down when I really needed an answer as I transfer stuff from WIndows 7 Office to Windows 10 Office It missed some anomalies i.
Index had some gaps and there were obviously problems found on Google searches which the writer did not seem aware of. A good book for general MS Office duties. It can be a little long-winded to describe what they want you to achieve but explains tasks well. Report abuse. What other items do customers buy after viewing this item? Stefan Wischner.
